    Topic: Are Your Virtual Card Payments Really Check Payments In Disguise?

    Companies are rapidly expanding their purchasing card programs by using virtual cards to send payments to suppliers.  In fact, some companies have virtual card program more than double the size of the spend on cards held by employees.  While the desire to use cards to earn rebates is highly desirable by companies, by using virtual cards where the card is emailed to their supplier, are companies trading in their paper checks for card payments that are no better than a check?  

    Virtual cards often come with reconciliation challenges, balancing issues, and upset suppliers when the cards are declined.  As the saying goes, there has to be a better way.  Virtual cards come in two flavors:  cards that have similar attributes to a check and cards that act similar to an ACH.  A fully electronic virtual card solution can deliver the rebate, but also provide a full automation for both the buyer and supplier.  There is a better way, and your company can drive increased rebates and supplier satisfaction by implementing a fully automated card program.

    Diane Kush has been working in the financial services for over 25 years.  Her expertise is in new start-ups including new business lines, distribution channels and partnerships for major financial institutions and fortune 500 companies including Harris Bank/BMO, Wells Fargo and GE Capital.  In 2011, she joined MUFG Union Bank to lead the development and launch of the bank’s commercial card program.  This was the second de novo launch of a commercial card program that she has led.  Diane has a B.S. in Finance from DePaul University and a MBA from Northwestern Kellogg Graduate School of Business.
