    Bradley Larson, CTP, AFP Board of Directors, Policy and Ethics Special Committee
    Mr. Larson is the Vice President and Treasurer for Pamida, a regional general merchandise retailer serving 200 smaller communities in 17 states in the Mid-west.

    Summary - One government bailout program seems to be working. In mid-September the fixed income markets were crushed when volatility struck; however, the programs (AMLF, CPFF, etc.) put in place to revive orderliness have helped.  David Burbie and Michael Cha of Morgan Stanley will help dissect each program and help you put it into meaningful implications as you optimize your corporate cash investment strategy.

    Speaker Bio's:

    David Burbie -  
    David is charged with the distribution of Morgan Stanley's liquidity products throughout the Western United States.  He joined Morgan Stanley in 2007 and has 14 years of investment experience. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in client relationship management positions at Bank of America and Barclays Global Investors.  He received his B.B.A in Finance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

    Michael Cha -  
    Michael is the Executive Director, Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of Morgan Stanley's U.S. Dollar Money Market Group.  Formerly Senior Trader, Fidelity Investments, 1999 - 2008, Portfolio Manager, Barclays Global Investors, 1994-1999, and Trader, Charles Schwab Investment Management, 1990 - 1994.  Mr. Cha, who has 18 years of investment experience, is a graduate of the University of California, Davis.

    Topic: "Forensic Accounting - The CSI of Finance"

    Summary - Forensic Accounting and the need for it in today's Economy in light of the scandals that seem to just keep surfacing.

    Speaker Bio: Jere R. Batten is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner who is currently the president of Batten Accountancy, Inc. in San Diego.   Ms. Batten has over 19 years experience in conducting audits, preparing tax returns, and consulting for small businesses, not-for profit organizations, and individuals. She received her CFE designation in 2002 and specializes in fraud prevention with her clients. She conducts fraud investigations usually pertaining to embezzlement issues and financial statement fraud. She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is currently the President of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

    Topic: "Counterparty Risk in the Current Environment: Which Players are Left and What to Look Out For”

    Summary - An advanced discussion of assessing the risk of various asset classes, in order to safeguard the investments of Capital Advisors Group’s clients. This includes creating advanced credit approval and surveillance procedures, issuing credit driven investment opinions to the company’s trading desk, and providing credit based investment opinions.

    Speaker Bio: Lance Pan was frequently quoted by the financial press including the Associated Press, Business Week, Bloomberg, CFO Magazine, Dow Jones, and Reuters. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and is an editorial board member of the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management.
